Programme Requirements for 2025/26 Session

Students may apply to undertake either an optional year abroad or an optional year in Computer Science between level I and H: Year Abroad: Students must have achieved a minimum overall weighted average of 55 at the end of the first year in order to be eligible for study abroad. An optional year abroad taking modules, in English, relevant to the History of Art programme. Modules to be chosen from an approved list relevant to the History of Art JH programme. Modules will be selected in conjunction with the academic member of staff responsible for the programme, to ensure that they are at an appropriate level, that they do not duplicate our own provision, and that they contribute to the programme. If there is any duplication of our programme, the student will be ineligible to sit those modules on return to Birmingham. If the module is passed the student's degree title will have 'with Year Abroad' added. With effect from the 2020-21 cohort, Year 2 will be weighted at 25% and final year at 75%. The Year Abroad will be assessed on a pass/fail basis only and it will not contribute to the final degree classification.
